Meet Jimmy
Welcome to Sparrow Acupuncture!
I’m so glad that you’re here.
Jimmy Sparrow aka Kristin Taylor-Sparrow LAc, AEMP, has been a licensed and practicing acupuncturist since 2015.
She graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2014 after participating in an internship at the Nanjing China, International Acupuncture Training Center, where she was delighted to meet other acupuncturists from all over the world.
While in China Jimmy discovered a great love of eggplant and a surprising level of validation for the education she received in the United States.
Jimmy has found great joy in practicing acupuncture in a community setting and had the opportunity to work at a total of four community acupuncture clinics over the span of seven years.
During her time in community acupuncture Jimmy gave thousands of treatments to a wide and wonderful population of people.
Though Jimmy is now practicing acupuncture in a private setting she is grateful for the skills she learned while in a community setting. Treating many people in an hour taught her to think on her feet and move quickly!
Thousands of treatments given to hundreds of people has left Jimmy with a deep well of experience to draw upon.
While community acupuncture will always hold a piece of Jimmy’s heart she is happy to practice in a private setting and finds that she has a greater capacity to hold space for those seeking treatment and she is better able to fully engage in her own self care.
When Jimmy is not practicing Chinese Medicine she can be found playing with her rambunctious toddler, exploring new recipes, hiking and rambling about in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
What is acupuncture?
The insertion of hair thin needles at specific locations known as acupuncture points, on the body to promote the flow of Qi (pronounced chee) and to move stagnation.
-
Everything! Qi is the energy that flows through us, some call it our life force. Qi is also the energy in the food we eat, sunlight and even the wind. Qi is energy.
-
Many estimate that acupuncture started around 7-10 thousand years ago in China. Acupuncture grew up as one branch of the great tree of Chinese Medicine that includes Chinese herbal medicine, Qi cultivation (QiGong, TaiQi) and nutrition. The acupuncture that is practiced today is closer to 5 thousand years old.
